(4 January, 1823 -- 16 June, 1899) Harding was an American lawyer and politician. Born in Wyoming County, Pa., Harding studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1847. Harding moved to Oregon in 1850 and afterwards served as clerk of the Territorial Legislature. Harding was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Edward D. Baker and served as Senator until he retired in 1865. McBride studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1855. McBride participated as a delegate in the State constitutional convention in 1857. McBride was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-eighth Congress. (June 23, 1820 -- 17 June, 1885) Nesmith was an American politician. Born in New Brunswick, Canada, while his parents were on vacation, Nesmith moved to Oregon in 1843. Nesmith was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 1860 and later elected as a Democrat to the Forty-third Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Joseph G. Wilson.
