James Jackson | Visualize | (21 September 1757– 19 March 1806) Congressman, U.S. Senator, and Governor of Georgia. In 1777 Jackson was a delegate to the Georgia Constitutional Convention. He served in the state militia, fought in numerous engagements, and became a major general in 1792. He owned several thousand acres of rice and cotton-producing lands. George Mathews | Visualize | (30 August 1739 – 30 August 1812) U.S. Representative, soldier, land speculator, and Governor of Georgia. After serving in the House of Burgesses and as a colonel under George Washington in the Revolutionary War, Mathews was appointed as brigadier general in the militia and governor.
