WORK IN PROGRESS - IN THE FINAL STAGES OF EDITING A series of talks launched by Peter Brooke, Secretary of State for Northern in Ireland, which began in April 1991, and were carried on intermittently by Brooke and his successor, Patrick Mayhew, until November 1992.

Plenary agrees to:
(a) constitute a committee to consider and report on issues arising under Agenda Item 6 in order to facilitate Plenary in its consideration of the common desire of the people of the island of Ireland for a new relationship, of the obstacles in the path of satisfying that desire and of the ways in which those obstacles might be overcome;
(b) invite each delegation immediately to nominate 4 delegates to the committee with authority to speak on behalf of their delegations;
(c) instruct the committee
(i) to consider Agenda Item 6 in the light of the papers prepared on that item and any other relevant papers tabled or statements made in the course of the talks
(ii) to report progress to a Plenary meeting to be held on the afternoon of Thursday, 10 September.
