Wyoming State Constitutional Convention 1889

The Wyoming Constitution Convention began September 2, 1889 without the authorization from an enabling act. The articles were individually voted on, creating the final Constitution of Wyoming on September 30, 1889. It was later ratified on November 5, 1889.

Chinese Labor.

Sec. 1. No person not a citizen of the United States or who has not declared [+e667548]That it shall be unlawful for any contractor, builder or arc[-e667548]his in[+e667548]tention[+e667548]ct[-e667548] to become such, shall be employed[+e667548]employ Chinese laborers[-e667548] upon, or in connection[+e667548] any public works[-e667548] with, any state, county or municipal works or employment[+e667548], except as a punishment for crime after conviction according to law[+e667558].[+e667548]in the limits of the State of Wyoming. [-e667548]

Sec 2. The legislatur[+e667548]iv[-e667548]e assembly [-e667548]shall,[+e667548] by appropriat[+e667548]suitabl[-e667548]e legislation see that the provisions of the foregoing section are enforced.
