Description

John Hume and Gerry Adams issued a fourth joint statement. The statement read: " A just and lasting peace in Ireland will only be achieved if it is based on democratic principles. ... If a lasting settlement is to be found there must be a fundamental and thorough-going change, based on the right of the Irish people as a whole to national self-determination."
