Description

In January 1988 just eight months after Sinn Féin produced its document Scenario for Peace which called for dialogue on the political situation in the North, the party received a letter from a third party asking it if it were willing to formally meet the SDLP. On January 11th 1988, Gerry Adams and John Hume met for several hours. They exchanged analyses and it was emphasised by both afterwards that there was 'no military agenda'.
