Description

Serious violence occurred after an Apprentice Boys' parade in Derry. Taoiseach Jack Lynch sent 'field hospitals' to border areas. RUC stations were attacked in nationalist areas and there was widespread rioting in the days surrounding this event. This was one of the key events marking the beginning of the Troubles.
