Description

21-year-old Martin Gavin, a Catholic civilian, was attacked by five loyalists who beat him, fractured his skull, cut his throat, head, and hand. The sectarian attack was similar to those of the UVF 'Shankill Butchers' gang of the 1970s, and happened in the days following the killing of Robert Bates, a former leading member of the gang.
