Description

On the 27th of April 1999, a treaty was signed between the Government of Ireland and the Government of the United Kingdom in order to establish an Independent Commission for the Location of the Victims' Remains. The Commission was primarily tasked with locating the remains of 'victims of violence', indicating people killed prior to the 10th of April 1998 by or in connection with an 'unlawful organization', namely paramilitary organisations.
