Description

The 1972 Treaty of Accession was an international agreement which saw the accession of Denmark, Ireland, Norway and the United Kingdom to the European Communities. The treaty was signed in Brussels by Edward Heath, then prime minister, on the 22nd of January 1972. Denmark, Ireland and the United Kingdom all became EC member states on the 1st of January 1973.
