"(October 5, 1806 -- April 24, 1881) Teunis Garret Bergen was a farmer, surveyor, supervisor, public servant, soldier, and American politician. Bergen was born in Brooklyn, New York. Bergen was a supervisor of New Utrecht, Kings County, New York (1836-1859), member of three New York constitutional conventions (1846, 1867, 1868), and delegate to the Democratic National Conventions at Baltimore and Charleston in 1860. Bergen also served as ensign, captain, adjutant, lieutenant colonel, colonel of the 241st Regiment, New York State Militia, known as Kings County Troop.
