The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(September 15, 1829 — October 13, 1900) Hubbell was an American politician and lawyer. Jay Abel Hubbell was born in Avon, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and was admitted to the bar in 1855. He worked as the district attorney of the Upper Peninsula in 1857 and 1859, and as practicing attorney of Houghton County from 1861 to 1867. Hubbell was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1883.
