The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(January 27, 1829 — November 27, 1912) Jones was a farmer, miner, and politician. John Jones was born in Herefordshire, England and immigrated to the United that same year with his parents. After growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, Jones moved to California, where he served as county sheriff and a member of the State Senate (1862-1867). He moved to Nevada in 1868 and worked as a miner until 1873 when he was elected to the United States Senate. He served in the Senate as a Republican from 1873 to 1903.
