The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(November 16, 1824 — January 24, 1890) Crutchfield was a businessman and politician. William Crutchfield was born in Greenville, Tennessee in 1824. He moved to Alabama in 1844 and worked in agriculture. Although he was a permanent resident of Chattanooga, he was served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Crutchfield was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875. After serving in Congress, he returned to Tennessee and continued work in agriculture until his death in 1890.
