The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(September 10, 1837 — March 13, 1897) Laurin Dewey Woodworth was an American politician and lawyer. Woodworth was born in Windham, Ohio in 1837. He attended Ohio State University, studied law at Union Law College, and was admitted to the bar in 1859. During the Civil War, he enlisted in the Union Army and attained the rank of major. After the war, Woodworth served in the Ohio State Senate from 1867 to 1871. He was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1877.
