The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(January 9, 1828 — May 16, 1888) Smith was a businessman and politician. William Alexander Smith as born in Warren County, North Carolina in 1828. While working in agriculture, he served as a delegate of the State constitutional convention in 1865. Smith also served in the State Senate in 1870. He was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1875.
