The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(January 10, 1822 — February 16, 1889) Pendleton was a businessman, banker, and public servant. James Pendleton was born in New London County, Connecticut and moved to Rhode Island after completing school. In Rhode Island, he served as a member of the State Senate (1862-1865), and delegate to the Republican National Convention (1868). Pendleton was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1875.
