Jackson Orr

The Civil Rights Act of 1875

(September 21, 1832 — March 15, 1926) Orr was a businessman, judge, and politician. Jackson Orr was born in Fayette County, Ohio in 1832 and moved to Iowa in 1856. He attended Indiana University at Bloomington before moving to Iowa. During the Civil War, Orr enlisted in the Union Army and served as a captain. After the war, he moved back to Iowa and worked in the mercantile business. He also served in the State House of Representatives in 1868. Orr was elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives and served from March 4, 1871 to March 3, 1875. He served as a county judge for three years in the late 1870’s, and then moved to the real estate industry until his death in 1926.
