"(September 15, 1807 -- June 26, 1873) James Mullins was a(n) millwright, soldier, sheriff, public servant, and American politician. He was born in Bedford County, Tennessee. James was colonel of the State militia (1831), sheriff of Bedford County (1840-1846), member of the state house of representatives (1865 -1867), and was compelled to flee from his home because of his loyalty to the Union. Mullins was elected as a Republican to the 40th Congress (March 4, 1867 - March 3, 1869).
