"(October 10, 1823 -- December 6, 1898) William Henry Robertson was a(n) lawyer, public servant, judge, inspector of a militia, collector of port, and American politician. He was born in Bedford, New York. William studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1847. Robertson served as a member of the State assembly (1849 and 1850), State senate (1854, 1855, 1889, & 1889), President pro tempore of the state senate (1874-1881), and an unsuccessful candidate for governor (1872 and 1879). He was an inspector of the 7th Brigade New York State Militia (1860 -1866) and collector of the port of New York (1881 - 1885). William was elected as Republican to the 40th Congress (March 4, 1867 - March 3, 1869) and was no reelected.
