United States Fifteenth Amendment

"(April 4, 1827 -- May 1, 1888) Demas Barnes was a(n) merchant, drug merchant, studier of mineral resources, author, publisher, member of a board of education, and American politician. He was born in Gorham Township, Ontario County, New York. He studied mineral resources of Colorado, Nevada, and California, and wrote and published articles about his experience. He established and edited the Brooklyn Argus (1873), member of the board of education, and was one of the original trustees of the Brooklyn Bridge. He was elected as a Democrat to the 40th Congress (March 4, 1867 - March 3, 1869) and was not elected in 1868.
