Message on the Resignation of Mr. Fenton

Washington, D. C., December 10, 1864.

Sir: I have resigned my seat in Congress, to take effect on the 20th instant. I will leave for Albany on Monday next, and as it is not probably that I shall return in the mean time, I now tender my resignation as a member of the Committee of Ways and Means, and also on the committee on the rebellious States.
