Charles Walton resigns his seat in the House
Auburn, Maine, May 26, 1862.
Dear Sir: Being about to accept and enter upon the duties of the office of associate justice of the supreme judicial court of the State of Maine, to which I have been recently appointed and commissioned, I hereby resign my office of Representative in the Thirty-Seventh Congress from the second congressional district of Maine, and respectfully ask that this my resignation may be accepted, to take effect from this date.
