In all criminal prosecutions, the party accused shall have the right to a speedy and public trial; to have the right to produce all proofs that may be favorable to himself; to have the process of the court to compel the attendance of witnesses in his behalf and to appear and defend in person and with counsel.

No person shall be twice put in jeopardy for the same offense; nor be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law.

No person shall be barred from prosecuting or defending before any tribunal in this State by himself or counsel any civil cause to which he is a party.

The laws of this State affecting the political rights and privileges of its Citizens shall be without distinction of race, color, sex or any circumstance or condition whatsoever other than individual incompetency, or unworthiness duly ascertained by a court of competent jurisdiction.
